about the layout
After a long absence from webdesigning and coding, this is my first attempt at responsive web design. I finished this layout first before moving on to revamp my domain, (which takes less time). Please bear with me if you found some unresponsiveness within the contents. :"D The layout has been tested in Google chrome (both desktop and mobile) and Safari 8 with 1280×800 resolution.
I decided to make 2 skins for this shrine, considering how the first one might contain too much spoilers for new visitors. I’ve tried this method ages ago, so I already forgot how to do it. Thankfully, the article is still online! You can check the awesome tutorial by Jem here.
skin #1; warmth
The image used in this layout came from the Tokyo Ghoul:Re manga chapter 125. I really like the art—actually, which Kanetou fan doesn’t?? Manga scan coloured by yours truly. I threw in bokeh & light textures to intensify the ‘warmth’ of the picture. As for the footer, I used an illustration derived from Ishida Sui’s twitter account.
The header image itself cannot represent the dark and heavy theme of Tokyo Ghoul, so instead of using warmer and romantic pastellish tones, I decided to go with light greyish-purple tone with darker boxes.
skin #2; see you later
Despite being lighter in color, this theme is actually has a darker concept. Unlike the affectionate scene we see in skin #1, this one is rather angsty; even Kaneki’s face is shaded in such a dramatic way! I didn’t want to color any images this time because I was in a rush, I didn’t want to use too much colors either. The images come from chapter 72 of Tokyo Ghoul: Re.
