behind the scene
I first read Tokyo Ghoul several months ago, but only the first few chapters, and then didn’t really bother to catch up. The series picqued my interest again when—guess what—I learned from Twitter that people were cursing the mangaka and sending him death threats, for making not-their-OTP canon.
For your information, I have this other OTP from other series where they’re not canon (~yet) and the fandom hates on this girl, saying she’s useless, mary sue, damsel in distress, and so on; while she actually doesn’t just sit around and do nothing; she kicks some asses too. Then I thought to myself, “Ooh, this sounds like my kind of thing”, which led me to start reading the series again.
And then, Touken fills in the emptiness in my heart from the lack of D.Gray-man releases (which also means the lack of my OTP moments, haha). While reading, I learned that, contrary to the antis’ opinion, Kaneki and Touka’s relationship does not come out of nowhere. I’ve been retracting myself from shrinemaking activities for years, but somehow this pairing, and the unjust views against them, prompts me to create a shrine. And here it goes, it may not be huge, it is nowhere near perfect, but still, very dear to me. I hope you enjoy this shrine as much as I enjoy making it!♥
the title
I had several ideas before ended up with this site title. I thought of using some song titles, one of them was Hello, Goodbye. After some thoughts, I didn’t want to use it, even though it remained in my layouts for quite some time. Until one day, I was randomly browsing otherwordly when i found the word Querencia.

At first, it seems to have a beautiful meaning, but when I try to dig a little deeper, the word appears to be a term used in bullfighting. I still find the word pretty and unusual, and I want a good-enough reason to use it for this site title. Then I read this Wikipedia article:
A querencia is a place the bull naturally wants to go to in the ring, a preferred locality... It is a place which develops in the course of the fight where the bull makes his home. It does not usually show at once, but develops in his brain as the fight goes on. In this place he feels that he has his back against the wall and in his querencia he is inestimably more dangerous and almost impossible to kill.
...more dangerous and almost impossible to kill? That definitely sounds like what happens to Kaneki in TG:Re chapter 144. It is a touching, yet horrific moment where Kaneki decides that he will do whatever it takes to survive in order to meet Touka again. In the end, I decided to go with this word as it seems to be very fitting with the latest Touken development!
